Have you heard about the latest refrigerant? Refrigerant is the liquid your unit uses to cool or warm the air in your home. While there are a number of refrigerants on the market, they are being phased out with the development of a new refrigerant called R454B. This phasing out, in turn, will lead to a hike in the price and a lack of availability of previous refrigerants and the parts and equipment that use them. Over the next few years, refrigerants like R410A will be phased out entirely.
We usually recommend looking into a replacement of your system at around 10-15 years if your unit is causing you problems. This is important because fixing older units is often costly and less effective overall. With an R454B system, not only are you reducing the environmental impact your HVAC system has, but you are also receiving a safer refrigerant.
